Does going solar really help the environment?
The short answer is yes! Solar energy is a renewable energy resource, which means it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. By switching to solar you can help reduce your carbon footprint and slow down climate change.
Will my property value increase if I switch to solar energy?
Studies do show that property owners can expect a 3-4% increase in their property value when they install a solar energy system.
Keep in mind that this only applies to property owners who own their solar panel systems. If you lease your solar energy system your property value will not increase until you complete the purchase.
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels work by absorbing the sun’s energy and converting it into direct current electricity. Since most electricity in the United States is alternating current electricity, an inverter is used to convert it into usable energy.
Will my solar energy system work if it’s cloudy?
The amount of electricity your solar system generates depends on how many hours of sunlight your panels receive. When the weather is cloudy, the system will produce slightly less than when it is sunny.
Can I get rid of my electric bill completely if I switch to solar?
Most people prefer to use a grid-tied solar energy system for their home, which connects to the local utility power grid. This means you won’t completely get rid of your electric bill, but you will reduce it dramatically.
If you choose to go completely off-grid with solar energy, you will need to make sure your system’s battery storage is the right size for your home’s electrical needs.
Does it cost a lot to maintain a solar energy system?
Thankfully, solar panel systems are made to last and require hardly any maintenance for 25-35 years. If something does happen, such as extreme weather, to damage your solar panel system, most manufacturers will include a warranty. So be sure you have that information saved in a safe place just in case!
Do I have the right kind of roof to support solar panels?
The best option for a solar system is a roof that faces South with little to no shade. It also needs to be large enough to house your solar panels. If you aren’t sure if your property’s roof will work, just give Advanced Solar a call and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.
How long does a residential solar panel system last?
Assuming your solar panel system isn’t damaged by extreme weather, it should continue to generate electricity for your property for 25-35 years.
