Solar Energy Incentives For Indiana
Building A Bright Future
Converting to solar energy use in Indiana has become more affordable in recent years, largely because of tax credits and financial incentives being offered to homeowners who make the switch to this renewable energy.
However, residential state solar incentives are no longer available, and the ITC tax credit for residential solar installation will end on 12/31/2025.
Commercial ITC tax credits will be available until the end of 2027.
Solar Rebates & Tax Credits
Federal Solar Tax Credit For Commercial Properties
The federal solar tax credit is also known as “ITC” or the Investment Tax Credit. If you have your solar energy system installed on your commercial property before the end of 2027, the tax credit is 30% of your cost. It includes equipment costs, labor, and any permit fees.
For example, if your system costs $20,000, your tax credit would be $6,000.
Keep in mind that this tax credit is scheduled to reduce over time. So now is the perfect time to go solar to take advantage of the higher tax credit rate!
Maximize Your Solar Savings In Indiana
If your home is located in an area of Indiana served by NIPSCO, you can enroll in a program to get credit for your solar energy.
You can install a residential solar energy system up to 10 kilowatts and then choose to either sell the energy back to NIPSCO or declare a kilowatt allotment to sell back to them, using the rest of the energy for your home.
For more information about this program, go to the NIPSCO Feed-In Tariff website.
